Choptank Community Health System’s Denton Health Center recently welcomed family practice physician Eunice A. Asare, DO to the medical practice.

Dr. Asare specializes in the comprehensive assessment and treatment of prenatal, pediatric, and adult patients working in local, rural communities. She is a Global Health Clinical Elective participant with Christiana Care and the Rhodes Foundation and is a Certified Medical Language Interpreter in Akan/Twi.

Choptank Community Health System’s Goldsboro Medical and Dental Center recently welcomed dentist Morgan Rhodes, DMD to the dental practice.

Dr. Rhodes specializes in the comprehensive assessment and treatment of pediatric and adult dental patients working in local, rural communities.

Dr. Rhodes received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine, where she treated advanced dental patient cases as a clinical honors student. She received a Bachelor of Sciences in Biological Sciences degree with a minor in Business Administration from Clemson University, where she graduated summa cum laude. Her postdoctoral residency was completed at New York University Langone.

Choptank Community Health System’s Easton Health Center and Denton Health Center recently welcomed behavioral medicine practitioner Laurence J. Pezor, MD, CHE to the medical practice.

Dr. Pezor will provide psychiatric medication assessments and medication management for children, adolescents, and young adult patients of Choptank Community Health System’s medical and dental providers. He will see patients in Choptank Health’s Easton Health Center on Wednesdays and at the Denton Health Center on Fridays. Pezor will also consult with Choptank Health’s pediatric providers on an as-needed basis.

Choptank Health names contractor for new Federalsburg Health Center

Choptank Community Health System is moving forward with the construction of its new health center at 320 Hargraves Dr. in Federalsburg with the recent selection of Harper & Sons, Inc. of Easton, Md. as the general contractor for the project. The new state-of-the-art center will be replacing Choptank Health’s current location on Bloomingdale Avenue, with the contract awarded to Harper & Sons, Inc. after a competitive bidding process.

“Harper & Sons share our passion for excellence and a deep commitment to community,” said Choptank Health CEO Sara Rich. “We have worked with Harper & Sons on other renovations and are impressed by the number of successful commercial projects they’ve completed throughout the Eastern Shore.”

Women’s health and prenatal services are available to all Choptank Health patients at Easton Health Center, Fassett Magee Medical Center in Cambridge, and the Federalsburg Medical Center. Women’s health services are also provided to patients in Caroline and Kent counties, with prenatal health services to be added soon.

Services include well-women exams for cervical cancer and breast cancer screenings, prenatal counseling and treatment, gynecology/pelvic exams, STI screenings, contraceptive counseling, IUD and Nexplanon placement, menopause counseling, and more.

The importance of access to rural healthcare was the topic for Choptank Community Health System CEO Sara Rich’s May 17 testimony at a hearing titled, “Improving Health Care Access in Rural Communities: Obstacles and Opportunities” before the Senate Committee on Finance Health Care Subcommittee.

Presiding over the Subcommittee hearing were Chairman U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) and ranking member U.S. Senator Steve Daines (R-Mt.). Rich provided testimony on behalf of the nation’s community health centers and was one of four national healthcare leaders providing testimonials.
