Choptank Health brings awareness to children’s mental health

On National Children’s Mental Awareness Day, Choptank Community Health System's health center and school-based health care teams partnered with Children's Mental Health Matters by wearing green on May 5 to show support and help raise awareness of children's mental health.

The awareness day is part of May’s designation as Mental Health Awareness Month, with health care workers, educators, parents, and more joining together to help spread the word that mental health is something everyone should care about.

Children’s Mental Health Matters is a Maryland public awareness campaign gathering hundreds of nonprofits and other community agencies from counties across the State of Maryland to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and provide resources to improve children’s mental health and reduce substance use. Champions are recognized for their services as mental health advocates and resources, with more at www.childrensmentalhealthmatters.org.

Choptank Health operates 32 School-Based Health Centers in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, and Talbot County Public Schools, offering medical and/or dental services for enrolled K-12 students. Behavioral health services will be available in Choptank Health’s School-Based Health Centers starting in fall 2022 for Caroline and Talbot County Public School students.

Choptank Community Health System provides medical and dental services in Caroline, Dorchester, and Talbot counties, with a mission to provide access to exceptional, comprehensive, and integrated healthcare for all. Choptank Community Health’s medical services include primary healthcare, women’s health, pediatrics, behavioral health, chronic health management, and care navigation, with new medical patients now being accepted.
